The company is also investing substantially in research and development on a related antibody, ombitasvir, to treat other forms of the virus, which are much more difficult to treat. That antibody, which will be approved in 2017, is based on the technology behind Daraprim. Turing plans to begin clinical trials of the therapy in next six months.
The company is also investing in an experimental drug to treat advanced form of malaria, with a second drug to be developed soon.
