Faith is what you have in the absence of evidence. Faith and fact are never interchangeable. There are some questions which have answers based on facts, such as "did we evolve?" We will know the definitive answer to such questions after enough research is completed. Then there are other questions which can never be answered via logical analysis, such as "is there a god?" No amount of theory or research will ever explain these questions. A person can either decide to believe what feels right to him or leave the question unanswered.
